Flat plain
The town sits on level ground with no hills to bend its roads. That lets straight lines dominate the map in every direction.

Xindian Map Poster & Print
Xindian is a town in northern Jiangsu, on the broad and almost perfectly flat plain that covers much of this part of eastern China. On the map, the town is a compact area of streets, and around it long straight roads and field boundaries stretch in every direction, broken only by watercourses and small villages.
Northern Jiangsu has been farmed intensively for a very long time. Irrigation channels and drainage ditches divide the land into regular plots. Small towns like Xindian act as local centres for trade and services, and they are connected to larger county towns by roads that run straight across the plain.
A Xindian map poster shows the geometry of a lowland farming region. The straight roads and channels give the sheet a strong, almost ruled pattern, and the town sits among them as a denser cluster. It is a simple map, and for people who come from the area it is an accurate picture of home.
