Yasnogorsk sits in the northern part of Tula Oblast, where the Central Russian Upland rolls gently between farmland and patches of forest. From above, the town reads as a tight cluster of blocks set beside a railway line. The line crosses the sheet in one clean stroke, and the rest of the plan organises itself around it.
The town grew up around a railway station and was known as Laptevo until it was renamed Yasnogorsk in 1965. You can still see that origin in its layout. Older low-rise streets stay close to the station, while later residential blocks and industrial sites spread outward in a looser, more rectangular pattern, typical of post-war Russian towns.

Post-war blocks
Further from the station, larger rectangular blocks of apartment buildings and works sites form a more regular pattern, a clear contrast with the smaller plots of the older streets.
Open countryside edge
At the edges the built area gives way quickly to fields and woodland, crossed only by thin rural roads. That leaves a wide, calm margin around the town on the poster.
