The plaza grid
The historic centre is organised around a central plaza with a regular pattern of blocks, a classic Spanish colonial town layout that anchors the map.

Yauco Map Poster & Print
Yauco sits in the south-west of Puerto Rico, where the coastal plain meets the foothills of the Cordillera Central. From above, the town's centre is a compact grid around a main plaza, but the streets quickly bend and climb as they reach the surrounding hills, giving the map a mix of order and contour-following curves.
A Yauco map poster shows the town's position between valley and mountain. The historic core occupies the flatter ground along the river, while newer neighbourhoods spread along the slopes. Roads lead south toward the coast and the PR-2 highway and north into the hills, where scattered houses follow the ridgelines.
Yauco is known as the Pueblo del Café for its long coffee-growing tradition, and coffee from its hillside farms has been exported for well over a century. The town is also remembered for the Intentona de Yauco of 1897, an uprising against Spanish rule, and its colourful houses and murals make the centre popular with visitors.

Hillside streets

Coffee country
Rural roads extend north into the hills where coffee farms are found, tracing the ridges that give Yauco its reputation as the Pueblo del Café.
