Zinacantepec Map Poster & Print
Zinacantepec is a municipality in the State of Mexico, just west of the city of Toluca. It sits at more than 2,700 metres in the high central valley. On the map, its urban area merges with Toluca's suburbs to the east. To the south and west, the streets give way to farmland and then to the rising slopes of the Nevado de Toluca.
That extinct volcano, also known as Xinantécatl, is one of the highest peaks in Mexico. Roads leading up its flanks start in the municipality. In the town itself, the former Franciscan convent of San Miguel Arcángel dates from the colonial period and now houses a museum.
A Zinacantepec map poster shows a place between city and mountain. The dense grid of the town centre sits on one side, and scattered villages and winding upland roads climb toward the volcano on the other. The design has a clear direction, from settled valley floor to open highland.

Slopes of the volcano
To the south, roads and villages thin out as the ground rises toward the Nevado de Toluca. Wide areas of the map are left open.
Edge of Toluca
To the east, Zinacantepec's streets run into the western suburbs of Toluca. The result is an almost continuous urban fabric across the valley.

People hang this map to remember a home in the Toluca valley, a family origin or a trip up the volcano. The pull of the mountain gives the poster a sense of height even in flat black lines.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with the Nahuatl name or a family date. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
