Colliery Dam Park
A wooded park with small lakes held back by old dams. Its open, irregular shape interrupts the residential streets and gives the map a soft focal point.

Harewood Map Poster & Print
Harewood lies within the city of Nanaimo, on the east coast of Vancouver Island. It began as a separate community tied to the coal mines that shaped the region in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and was later absorbed into the growing city. On the map it reads as a residential district rather than a town centre, with streets spreading across ground that climbs gently away from the harbour.
The pattern is a mix. Older sections keep a loose grid inherited from early lots, while later subdivisions bend into crescents and cul-de-sacs that follow the terrain. Open patches break up the built area, including the wooded parkland around Colliery Dam, whose name points back to the mining era and whose small reservoirs sit among the trees.
A Harewood map poster frames the neighbourhood at close range, so individual streets stay legible rather than dissolving into the wider Nanaimo street network. The surrounding city continues past the edges of the frame, set between the Strait of Georgia on one side and forested hills inland on the other. It is a local portrait more than a regional one.

Mixed street pattern
Straight older streets sit next to curving later subdivisions, so the map shows two ways of building a neighbourhood side by side, each easy to pick out in fine line work.
Coal-mining roots
Harewood grew up around coal mining, and although the pits are long gone, place names such as Colliery Dam keep that history attached to the landscape shown on the poster.

Miksi Harewood
Kartta, jolla on merkitystä
Neighbourhood maps are personal in a way city maps are not. A Harewood print marks the streets of a first house, a childhood walk to school or a regular loop through the park, and it means more to the people who lived there than any view of the wider island.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are all editable, so the poster can carry a street name, a move-in date or simply Harewood, Nanaimo. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, preview it free at 900 px, then download the $9 HD files or order a print.
