Terraced slopes
Rows of terraced houses run down the hillsides in close parallel lines. This fine, regular texture is typical of Lancashire mill towns and reads beautifully in black and white.

Oldham Map Poster & Print
Oldham sits on high ground at the edge of the Pennines, and its map reflects that climb. The town centre occupies a ridge, and terraced streets spread down the slopes in tight parallel rows. To the east the pattern thins out into hill farms, villages and open moor. Main roads radiate from the centre toward Manchester, Rochdale and across the hills into Yorkshire.
In the nineteenth century Oldham became one of the great cotton-spinning towns of the world. Many of its large mills still stand, and their rectangular footprints are visible among the houses. Today the Metrolink tram runs through the town centre, Alexandra Park adds a large green space near the centre, and the borough reaches out to the moorland reservoirs of Saddleworth.
An Oldham map poster shows the tension between a dense industrial townscape and the open upland around it. The terraces, the mill sites, the ring road and the sudden emptiness of the hills give the composition real depth. It suits anyone with family roots in the town or a fondness for the landscapes of northern England.

Mill footprints
Large, blocky mill buildings interrupt the terraces and mark the cotton-spinning industry that shaped the town. On the map they appear as solid rectangles scattered across the districts.
The Pennine edge
East of the centre the streets fade into moorland, villages and reservoirs. Within a short distance, the map moves from dense urban lines to open hill country.

Miksi Oldham
Kartta, jolla on merkitystä
Oldham means something specific to people who grew up in its terraces or whose families worked in the mills. A map of the town holds that history without needing words, and the upland edge gives it a strong sense of place.
Personalise it with a street name, a family surname or a date in the title and subtitle, and pick one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries, on matte paper with an optional frame.
