Ang mapa
Afuá Map Poster & Print
Afuá lies on the Marajó archipelago in the state of Pará, in the delta where the Amazon meets the Atlantic. The town is built on marshy, tidal ground, and most of it stands on stilts. Instead of ordinary roads, its streets are raised walkways of wood and concrete running above the water and mud, forming a network that connects houses, shops and public buildings.
Because of this, cars and motorcycles are not permitted in the town, and people move on foot or by bicycle, including pedal-powered bicitaxis. The unusual layout has earned it the nickname Veneza Marajoara, the Venice of Marajó. Rivers and channels surround the town, and most connections to the outside world are made by boat.
An Afuá map poster shows a place unlike most others: a grid of raised walkways set within channels and riverbanks, with dense forest beyond. The lines are delicate and the water is everywhere, making it one of the most distinctive small-town plans in Brazil.

Channels and riverbanks
Rivers and tidal channels surround the town, drawing curving outlines that frame the walkway grid and show how closely it is tied to the water.
Car-free town
With no motor traffic permitted, the plan has no highways or wide roads, giving the print an unusually uniform and delicate character.

Bakit Afuá
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Afuá appeals to people from Pará, to travellers who have made the boat journey across the delta, and to anyone drawn to places built around water. Its unusual structure makes the map a strong design object as well as a personal keepsake.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised with any text you choose. Five styles are available, Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand; Blueprint highlights the channels, while Paper gives a softer, natural feel.
