Ang mapa
Al Qadarif Map Poster & Print
Al Qadarif, also written Gedaref, is the capital of the state of the same name in eastern Sudan, not far from the Ethiopian border. Its map shows a broad, low-rise city, with a central market district and residential quarters laid out in loose grids that fade into open ground at the edges.
The surrounding clay plains are among the country's most important farming areas, and the city is known as a centre of large-scale sorghum and sesame cultivation. Roads lead out toward Kassala to the north, the Ethiopian frontier to the east and the Nile region to the west.
An Al Qadarif map poster presents the city as it really looks from above: a spacious, horizontal place, where blocks of houses and courtyards meet farmland and seasonal watercourses. It is a simple image, but one that carries the particular character of eastern Sudan's grain country and its steady rhythm of harvest and trade.

Open grids
Residential districts extend in wide, loose grids of streets and compounds, gradually thinning toward the edge of town and the surrounding plain.
Roads to the region
Main highways leave the city in several directions, linking it to Kassala, the Ethiopian border and central Sudan, and giving the map strong radiating lines.
