Ang mapa
Aparecida Map Poster & Print
Aparecida lies in the valley of the Paraíba do Sul in the state of São Paulo, between the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It grew around devotion to Our Lady of Aparecida, whose small statue, by tradition, was found in the river by fishermen in 1717. Today the town is Brazil's most important pilgrimage destination.
The Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida, one of the largest Catholic churches in the world, dominates the town. On the map, its complex of buildings, car parks and open spaces appears as a broad, clearly defined zone. The older town streets climb the hills nearby, and the river curves along the edge.
An Aparecida map poster shows how faith has shaped the physical form of a small city. The open spaces of the shrine, the dense streets around it and the sweeping curve of the Paraíba give the composition a strong, balanced structure that holds up well in black and white.

Old town streets
The older part of Aparecida climbs a hill in a tight, irregular pattern of streets that leads towards the original church and the main pilgrim routes.

Bakit Aparecida
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Many Brazilians make the journey to Aparecida at least once, and some go every year. A map poster records that pilgrimage in a quiet, respectful way. It suits a family home, a parish office or a gift.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with the date of a pilgrimage or a family name, and edit the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy it as a $9 digital download or as a printed poster.
