Irrigation lattice
Canals and field roads cross the land at near right angles. They create a regular grid of plots that reads almost like graph paper in black and white.

Ang mapa
Azhatebage Map Poster & Print
Azhatebage lies on the irrigated plain of the western Tarim Basin, south of Kashgar. On a map, the pattern is set by water more than by streets. Straight canals and farm roads divide the land into long rectangular plots. Houses line these routes, and the village centre is simply the place where several of the lines meet.
This part of Xinjiang depends on meltwater from the mountains to the south and west. Irrigation turns dry ground into a patchwork of orchards and fields. Beyond the cultivated land the ground opens into arid country, and the difference between farmed and unfarmed land is often sharp. That makes oasis towns like this one very clear when seen from above.
An Azhatebage map poster emphasises this order. Channels and roads come out as parallel strokes, farm lanes as a fine lattice, and the desert edge as wide blank paper. The design shows how people organised a settlement around water rather than around a monument or a market square.

Tree-lined roads
Main routes are the strongest lines on the map. Houses and orchards line them in the linear pattern typical of Kashgar-area oasis farming.
Desert margin
Where irrigation stops, the map suddenly empties. The contrast between dense farmed ground and open dry land is the defining feature of the place.

Bakit Azhatebage
Isang mapang may kahulugan
The design appeals to anyone interested in how water shapes settlement, and to people with family roots around Kashgar. Its geometric field pattern works well in a modern interior, where it looks more like abstract art than a road map.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be edited to mark a home village or a journey through Xinjiang. The five styles are Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Try it first with a free 900 px preview, then choose HD files for $9 or a printed poster.
