River valley
The town and its main roads follow the valley floor, so the watercourse becomes the central axis around which the whole map is organised.

Ang mapa
Baiguan Map Poster & Print
Baiguan lies in the south of Gansu province, in mountainous country where the western ranges of the Qinling approach the edge of the Tibetan Plateau. The terrain is steep and deeply cut by rivers, and settlements here usually follow the valley floors, where the only flat land for roads, fields and buildings is found.
Seen from above, a town like this appears as a narrow band of streets beside a watercourse, with roads running upstream and downstream and smaller tracks climbing to hamlets on the slopes. Terraced fields cover much of the lower hillside. The pattern is irregular and organic, formed by the mountains rather than by any grid.
A Baiguan map poster turns that terrain into a clear, graphic image. The river valley runs through the composition like a spine, with a denser knot of streets where the town sits and fine lines branching out into the hills. It is a map for those with family ties to southern Gansu, or for anyone who likes landscapes shaped by the land itself.

Mountain tracks
Narrow roads leave the valley and climb toward hillside villages, adding thin, twisting lines to the upper parts of the poster.
Terraced hillsides
Fields cut into the slopes follow the contours of the mountains and give the empty parts of the map a subtle, layered structure.

Bakit Baiguan
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Many people from the mountain counties of Gansu now live and work in Lanzhou, Xi'an or cities much further east. A poster of Baiguan keeps the valley they grew up in close at hand and makes a considered gift for relatives.
The poster can carry your own title, subtitle and coordinates, in one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital version is $9 for six print sizes, or order a printed copy on matte paper.
