Ang mapa
Ballwin Map Poster & Print
Ballwin is a suburban city in west St. Louis County, Missouri. On a map it is organised around Manchester Road, which runs east to west through the town and carries most of its shops and services. Neighbourhoods lie north and south of that axis, reached by collector roads that wind into the hills.
The terrain is gently rolling and cut by small creeks, so few streets run straight for long. Subdivisions built mostly in the second half of the twentieth century appear as loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs. Wooded strips and parks follow the valleys between them.
A Ballwin map poster shows mid-century American suburban design at its most characteristic. The pattern is intricate and organic, and it reads almost like a leaf's veins or a set of fingerprints. On a clean sheet the contrast between the straight commercial road and the curving streets around it makes a surprisingly graphic image.

Cul-de-sac clusters
Residential streets form loops and dead ends that branch from a few collector roads. They make dense, textured patches across the map.
Creek hollows
Small valleys and the parkland along them run between the neighbourhoods. They leave winding gaps in the street network that give the design space to breathe.
