Burgos is a municipality in the Central Luzon region of the Philippines, the broad plain that is the country's most important rice-growing area. The land is flat and largely agricultural. From above, the town centre appears as a small cluster of streets, and roads extend outward to barangays scattered among irrigated fields, canals and tree-lined farm boundaries.
Several Philippine municipalities share the name Burgos, most of them named in honour of Father José Burgos, a nineteenth-century priest executed in 1872 and remembered as an important figure of the Philippine reform movement.
