Planned grid
The town centre is laid out in a regular grid of broad blocks, a clean and orderly pattern that reads very clearly as a poster.

Ang mapa
Capitão Poço Map Poster & Print
Capitão Poço is in north-eastern Pará, in the Brazilian Amazon region but in an area that has been largely opened up for farming. The town itself is relatively young and planned, and from above it appears as a compact, mostly regular grid of streets. The blocks are wide and the pattern is simple, typical of towns founded in the region during the twentieth century.
The contrast with the surroundings is sharp on the map. Outside the grid, rural roads run long distances in straight or gently bending lines, connecting smallholdings, farms and villages. Streams and patches of remaining forest show up as the only irregular shapes in the landscape.
This is not a town of old quarters or monuments, and its map is honest about that. A Capitão Poço map poster shows a clear, orderly grid at the centre of a wide agricultural area, with roads running out towards the edges like the spokes of a working landscape.

Streams and forest strips
