Ang mapa
Changde Map Poster & Print
Changde sits in northern Hunan, on the banks of the Yuan River shortly before it flows out onto the lowlands around Dongting Lake. The city centre lies mainly on the north bank, arranged along the curve of the river. Bridges lead to the districts on the southern shore. Lakes, ponds and field patterns fill the surrounding plain.
Along the river levee runs the Changde Poetry Wall, a long flood wall carved with classical and modern poems. The city's territory also includes Taoyuan County, associated with the Peach Blossom Spring, the famous fable by the poet Tao Yuanming. Changde is known across Hunan for its rice noodles, a local staple.
A Changde map poster follows the city as it stretches along the Yuan, with the river as the main line of the composition. The grid of the centre, the riverside embankment and the scattered waterbodies of the plain all show clearly in black and white. It is a map about living alongside a large river, and about keeping it in check.

Poetry Wall levee
The riverside flood wall runs alongside the centre. On the map it appears as a continuous edge between the streets and the water.
Lakes and ponds
Small lakes and ponds are scattered through and around the city. They create soft blank shapes that break up the street network.
