Ang mapa
Colbún Map Poster & Print
Colbún is a commune in the Maule Region of central Chile, extending from the flat agricultural land of the Central Valley eastwards into the foothills of the Andes. Its town is modest in size, with a regular block layout surrounded by vineyards, orchards and fields irrigated by canals drawn from nearby rivers.
The commune gives its name to Lake Colbún, a large reservoir created on the Maule River for a hydroelectric power plant completed in the 1980s. On the map the lake forms a long, irregular body of water in the foothills, and it has become a popular place for summer recreation for people from across the region.
A Colbún map poster can focus on the town itself or on the wider landscape of plain, river and lake. Either way, it shows the characteristic structure of central Chile, where farmland on the valley floor meets the first ridges of the mountains. The design is spare and open.

Irrigated valley
West of the foothills, the Central Valley is laid out in fields and canals, forming a fine, geometric pattern around the town and its roads.
Town grid
The town centre follows a simple block layout typical of Chilean rural towns, a compact, orderly shape set within the surrounding farmland.
