Colne sits on a ridge in the Pendle district of east Lancashire. The ridge gives the town its shape. The main street follows the high ground roughly east to west, and rows of terraced houses run down the slopes on either side. Colne is where several routes end. The M65 motorway finishes at its western edge, and the East Lancashire railway line from Preston ends at the town's station.
