Former steelworks
Large open areas where the steelworks stood now appear as broad spaces between streets, one of the most distinctive features of the Consett map.

Ang mapa
Consett Map Poster & Print
Consett sits on high ground in north-west County Durham, above the valley of the River Derwent. On the map, the town is a spread of terraced streets and later housing estates, with large open areas where the steelworks once stood. The surrounding land rises toward the Pennine moors to the west and falls toward the valley to the north and east.
For more than a century Consett was defined by its ironworks and steelworks, which closed in 1980. The site has since been cleared and partly redeveloped, and old railway lines have become walking and cycling paths, including sections of the long-distance Coast to Coast route. The Derwent Reservoir lies a short distance to the west.
A Consett map poster shows a town that has kept its shape after its main industry left. The terraces, the open former works and the lines of old railways together tell the story of a place that has had to reinvent itself.

Railway paths
Old railway lines leaving the town have become walking and cycling routes, long smooth curves that stand out against the grid of terraced streets.
Derwent valley
To the north and east the land drops into the Derwent valley, and the edge of the town follows that slope with a clear change in density.

Bakit Consett
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Consett families have strong ties to the town and its steel history, and a map is a simple way to honour that. It also suits cyclists who have passed through on the Coast to Coast route and want to remember the climb.
Personalise the title and subtitle, perhaps with a year from the steelworks era, and edit the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir fits the town's industrial past particularly well.
