From above, long tracks and yards cut across the town and divide residential areas from markets, while the river curves along one side and farmland stretches across the flat Deccan land beyond.
Daund Junction is one of the most important railway hubs in the region. It is where the line from Pune toward Solapur and southern India meets the route north toward Ahmednagar and Manmad.
