Ang mapa
Dej Map Poster & Print
Dej lies in northern Cluj County, in Transylvania, at the point where the Someșul Mic and the Someșul Mare join to form the Someș. From above, the confluence defines the town. Two river lines converge, and the streets gather on the ground between and around them, with hills rising on the valley sides.
Salt has shaped the area's history. The nearby salt mines at Ocna Dej have been worked for a very long time, and the town grew as a trading and administrative centre along the river routes. Its historic core, with a large Gothic Reformed church, sits a little above the water.
A Dej map poster brings out the geography clearly. The Y of the rivers gives the composition a natural structure, with bridges, the railway and the main roads all working around the meeting of the waters.

Historic core
The old centre sits on slightly higher ground near the rivers, a compact area of streets around the main square and church.
Valley slopes
Hills rise along both sides of the valley, and residential streets climb and curve up them, softening the town's outer edges.

Bakit Dej
Isang mapang may kahulugan
For anyone from Dej, the meeting of the rivers is the town's signature, and it makes a meaningful image to hang at home or abroad. It is also a lovely lesson in how geography decides where towns grow.
Personalise the title, the subtitle and the coordinates, then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the river lines particularly well.
