Ang mapa
Dongcheng Map Poster & Print
Dongcheng lies in the north-west of Hainan, China's tropical island province, in the gently rolling countryside of Danzhou. It is a rural town rather than a city district, and from above it appears as a compact cluster of streets and buildings around its main roads, surrounded by a wide mosaic of fields, orchards and plantation land.
This part of Hainan has long been associated with rubber and other tropical crops, and the landscape around towns like Dongcheng is divided into regular plots and plantation blocks. The coast of the Beibu Gulf is not far to the west, and small villages are scattered through the farmland between the main roads.
A Dongcheng map poster is a study in contrast between a small, dense centre and the wide patterned country around it. Plantation rows, field boundaries and village lanes all register as fine lines, so the print has a gentle, textile-like quality that suits the calm of rural Hainan.

Plantation blocks
Surrounding land is divided into regular plots of tropical crops, creating a fine geometric texture that fills much of the poster around the town.
Village network
Minor roads and tracks link the town to nearby villages, a delicate network of lines that spreads outward across the farmland.

Bakit Dongcheng
Isang mapang may kahulugan
For families from Danzhou and the surrounding countryside, a map of the home town is a personal and unusual keepsake. It suits a flat in Haikou, Guangzhou or overseas, where a reminder of Hainan is welcome.
Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps a family name and year, and keep the coordinates line. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a matte print.
