The Drac embankment
The river runs in a straight, managed channel along the town's eastern side. It separates Fontaine from Grenoble and gives the map a clean vertical line.

Ang mapa
Fontaine Map Poster & Print
Fontaine sits directly west of Grenoble across the Drac River, and forms part of the continuous urban area that fills the flat floor of the valley. The river creates a firm boundary on the eastern side of the map. To the west, the streets reach the lower slopes that lead up toward the Vercors plateau.
The town grew quickly in the twentieth century as industry and housing spread outward from Grenoble. Grenoble has one of the oldest tramway networks in France, and a line crosses the Drac to run through Fontaine. The mountains are never far away. From many streets you can see the limestone walls of the Vercors rising to the west.
A Fontaine map poster shows a close weave of residential blocks, broad avenues and the long straight edge of the Drac. On paper, the tight urban pattern ending sharply at the steep ground to the west shows how Alpine valley towns work, with every flat metre in use.

Valley-floor blocks
Housing and workshop streets cover the level ground in a dense, fairly regular pattern that fills most of the sheet with fine detail.
Foot of the Vercors
To the west the streets thin out as the land begins to rise. The edge of the built area follows the contour of the mountain slope.

Bakit Fontaine
Isang mapang may kahulugan
If you have lived in the Grenoble area, you know Fontaine by its tram line, its bridges over the Drac and the mountains at the end of every street. A map of it is a clear reminder of those daily routes.
Add a street name, a move-in date or the coordinates to the title lines. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The Blueprint style works especially well with the Drac's engineered straight line.
