The medieval centre is a closed, rounded shape of narrow streets. Parts of the old walls and a green ring still mark its edge.

Ang mapa
Freiberg Map Poster & Print
Freiberg lies on the northern edge of the Ore Mountains in Saxony. The town grew rich from silver mining, which began in the twelfth century. From above, the medieval centre is easy to recognise: a compact oval of streets, still partly outlined by the line of its old walls and by the green belt that replaced them.
Inside the oval, the streets lead to the Obermarkt and to the cathedral. The cathedral is known for its Golden Gate portal and its Silbermann organs. Freiberg is also home to the TU Bergakademie, founded in 1765 and often described as the oldest mining university in the world, and to the terra mineralia collection in Freudenstein Castle.
A Freiberg map poster shows the clear contrast between the historic core and the town around it. The old town forms a dense, closed shape, and later districts spread out in more open patterns. Old mining areas lie further out. The medieval outline gives the print a strong centre that works well at any size.

Obermarkt and cathedral
The main square and the cathedral quarter form the heart of the old town. The streets inside the oval lead towards them.
Mining landscape
Outside the town, old shafts, spoil heaps and ponds mark centuries of silver mining. They appear as scattered features among the fields and woods.

Bakit Freiberg
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Freiberg means a lot to generations of mining and geology students, and to anyone who has lived inside its old walls. A map of the town is an obvious memento of study years or a Saxon home.
Add your own title and subtitle, for example a degree and graduation year, along with coordinates, and choose from five styles, from Classic black & white to Blueprint. The HD files cost $9. Printed posters ship from print partners across Europe.
