Ang mapa
Galveston Map Poster & Print
Galveston sits on a narrow barrier island between Galveston Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The city occupies its eastern end in a regular grid. Numbered streets run across the island and lettered avenues run along it, so from above the whole town looks like a sheet of ruled paper laid along the coast.
The Great Storm of 1900 shaped the modern city. It remains the deadliest natural disaster in United States history, and in response Galveston built its seawall and raised the grade of much of the island. The seawall still runs along the Gulf shore as one long, straight line.
On the bay side, the Strand and the port area hold the Victorian commercial district and the working harbour. A Galveston map poster covers the whole arrangement: surf on one side, ship channel on the other, and a strict grid of streets between them.

Lettered grid
Avenues named by letters cross numbered streets in a strict pattern, which makes the island easy to read and precise on the page.
Harbour side
On the bay side, piers, the ship channel and Pelican Island create a busier, more broken outline than the smooth Gulf coast.

Bakit Galveston
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Galveston has a hold on people who spent summers on its beaches, married on the island or have family ties to the port. The map shows the island in its whole narrow shape, with water on both sides.
Put a beach house address, a wedding date or your own coordinates on the poster, and choose from five styles. Download the files in six print sizes for $9, or order a ready-printed poster shipped from a nearby print partner.
