It sits on open plateau country of grassland, woodland and cultivated plots, far from the country's large river ports. On a map it appears as a broad, low-density settlement. A handful of main roads converge on the centre, and many smaller tracks branch between homes and fields.
The surrounding area is known mainly for farming, with maize, cassava and other staple crops grown across the plateau. There is no compact historic core.
