Compact core
The older quarters form a dense, irregular cluster at the centre. Newer districts laid out on straighter, more regular streets surround them.

Ang mapa
Guelmim Map Poster & Print
Guelmim lies in southern Morocco, on a broad plain between the last ridges of the Anti-Atlas and the pre-Saharan lowlands. It is the capital of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region and has long been called the gateway to the Sahara. It is a meeting point between the settled north and the desert routes leading south.
From above, the town is a compact mass of low buildings and streets. The newer districts follow a regular grid, while the older quarters are denser and more irregular. Main roads lead out toward Tan-Tan, Sidi Ifni and Tiznit, and palm groves and irrigated gardens mark the edges wherever there is water.
For centuries the town was a trading post for caravans, and its weekly camel market became one of the best-known sights of southern Morocco. A Guelmim map poster shows a desert town in its landscape, where the tight urban core meets open, almost empty terrain in every direction.

Desert roads
Highways leave the town toward the coast and the south. They draw long straight lines across the open plain and connect Guelmim to the wider region.
Oasis gardens
Palm groves and cultivated plots appear at the edges wherever water is available. They soften the boundary between the town and its dry surroundings.

Isang mapang may kahulugan
Guelmim means a great deal to families from the region and to travellers who passed through on their way south. The map, a small town against a wide, empty plain, has a spare quality that suits minimalist interiors.
