Terrain-driven streets
The streets bend around hills and follow valley floors. This gives the town an irregular outline without a grid.

Ang mapa
Gulou Map Poster & Print
Gulou is a town within Chongqing Municipality, in the rolling hill country of the eastern Sichuan Basin. This landscape has almost no flat ground. Low hills and ridges are covered with terraced fields, and settlements sit in the valleys or along the ridges where roads can find a path.
On a map, the town's built-up area forms a modest, irregular cluster, shaped more by the terrain than by any plan. Roads wind between the hills to connect it with nearby towns, and small reservoirs, ponds and streams dot the countryside around it, a feature of farming in this part of China.
A Gulou map poster shows a compact core linked to the countryside by curving roads, with water bodies scattered across the surrounding land. Nothing about it is geometric. The drawing records the organic, terrain-driven layout typical of rural Chongqing.

Ponds and reservoirs
Small bodies of water, often used for irrigation, are scattered across the landscape. They appear as distinct shapes around the settlement.
Winding country roads
Roads connecting Gulou with neighbouring towns curve over ridges and through valleys, and they form flowing lines across the whole composition.

Bakit Gulou
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Many people from rural Chongqing have moved to large cities in China and abroad, and a map of their home town keeps that place present. The organic lines of the hill country also make an attractive, understated piece for any wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be personalised in your own words. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. HD files cost $9 in six print sizes, with 300 DPI PNGs and print-ready PDFs and no watermark.
