Ang mapa
Hunedoara Map Poster & Print
Hunedoara lies in western Romania, in a valley in the hills of southern Transylvania. The Cerna and Zlaști rivers meet near the town. From above, the older centre sits close to the rivers, and apartment blocks from the socialist period spread out around it. A large area once taken up by the steel works covers much of the valley floor.
The town is known above all for Corvin Castle, a large Gothic castle built on a rock outcrop above the Zlaști stream. It is one of the largest castles in Romania and a well-known image of Transylvania. For much of the twentieth century, Hunedoara was also one of the country's main steel-making centres.
A Hunedoara map poster shows a town shaped by both its castle and its industry. The rivers wind through the valley, the residential blocks form a regular pattern, and the old industrial area leaves a large gap in the street grid. It is a map with a clear story in it.

Industrial valley
The former steel works take up a large area of the valley, marked by long rail lines and big plots. They form a distinct zone next to the housing.
River confluence
The Cerna and Zlaști rivers meet near the town, and their channels shape the layout of the centre and the roads that follow the valley.
