Ang mapa
Kamaishi Map Poster & Print
Kamaishi is in Iwate Prefecture, on the Sanriku coast of northeastern Japan. This is a ria coastline, made up of deep bays cut into steep, forested hills. On a map, the city fills narrow valleys that run down to the harbour, and the streets are squeezed between the mountains and the water.
Kamaishi is known as the birthplace of the modern Japanese iron industry, and the Hashino iron mining site is part of a UNESCO World Heritage listing of Meiji industrial sites. The city was badly hit by the 2011 tsunami. Later, it hosted matches of the 2019 Rugby World Cup at a stadium built as a symbol of recovery.
A Kamaishi map poster shows a city shaped by its coastline. The deep bay, the narrow valleys and the steep hills create strong contrasts in black and white. For people who live here, who grew up here or who have followed the city's recovery, it is a detailed portrait of a place defined by both industry and the sea.

Valley streets
The city's streets fill narrow valleys running down to the harbour. They are hemmed in by steep hills, giving the map a distinctive, branching shape.
The harbour
Kamaishi Bay provides a deep, sheltered harbour. It is the focal point of the map, where the valleys and streets all meet the sea.

Bakit Kamaishi
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Kamaishi carries strong memories for many people, of work in the steel industry, of the sea, and of the years of rebuilding. A map of its valleys and bay is a quiet way to honour those connections. It suits a thoughtful interior.
Add a title in Japanese or English, a subtitle and a date, and edit the coordinates. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. HD files are $9, and a free watermarked preview is available before you buy.
