La Trinidad is the capital of Benguet province, set in a valley in the Cordillera immediately north of Baguio. The two places run into each other along the main highway, but on a map La Trinidad has its own distinct shape: a relatively level valley floor surrounded by steep slopes, with roads following the contours of the land rather than straight lines.
Much of the valley floor is given over to vegetable gardens and strawberry fields, and the town is widely known as the strawberry capital of the Philippines.
