Ang mapa
Lashkar Gāh Map Poster & Print
Lashkar Gāh is the capital of Helmand province in southern Afghanistan, set where the Helmand and Arghandab rivers meet. The town was largely laid out in the mid-twentieth century as the centre of a large irrigation project, and much of its core still follows a planned grid of straight streets and rectangular blocks.
The name recalls Lashkari Bazar, the ruins of a medieval palace complex associated with the Ghaznavid dynasty that lie near the river. On the map, the ancient site and the modern grid sit in the same landscape, joined by the river and by canals that turn the surrounding desert into strips of cultivated land.
A Lashkar Gāh map poster is shaped by water in dry country. The river bends past the town, canals run in long lines through farmland, and the regular street pattern stands out clearly in the centre. It is a map with strong structure and a sense of place for those connected to Helmand.

Planned street grid
Much of the centre follows a regular grid laid out in the twentieth century, giving the core a distinctly ordered look on the map.
Irrigation canals
Canals branch from the river across the plain, creating long lines of cultivated land that contrast sharply with the open desert beyond.
