Steppe surroundings
Open grassland and low hills surround the town, giving the poster wide areas of quiet space that make the built area stand out sharply.

Ang mapa
Nalayh Map Poster & Print
Nalaikh is a district of Ulaanbaatar, but it lies well outside the main city, some distance to the east across open steppe. On a map it reads as a separate town: a cluster of streets and apartment blocks surrounded by rolling hills and grassland, connected to the capital by a road that runs across the valley.
The town grew around coal mining, which supplied Ulaanbaatar for much of the twentieth century. Nearby lie the Tonyukuk inscriptions, carved in Old Turkic script in the eighth century and among the oldest written monuments in the region. The area also sits on the route many travellers take toward the Terelj national park.
A Nalayh map poster shows a place shaped by open space: the grid of the central district, the looser patterns of ger districts at its edges, the road leading back toward the capital, and wide stretches of steppe around it. The contrast between compact settlement and open land is the defining feature of the map.

Ger district edges
Around the central blocks, fenced plots of ger districts form an irregular pattern of small rectangles, distinct from the more regular streets of the centre.
Road to Ulaanbaatar
A main road runs west across the valley toward the capital, a long single line that connects Nalaikh to the city it formally belongs to.

Bakit Nalayh
Isang mapang may kahulugan
For people who grew up in Nalaikh or have family links to its mining history, this map is a quiet record of home. For others, it is a distinctive image of a town set in the Mongolian steppe, with space and outline doing much of the work.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised with any wording, including the Mongolian spelling. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand; Noir makes the town stand out against the open steppe especially well.
