Ang mapa

Njeru Map Poster & Print

Njeru sits on the western bank of the Victoria Nile, directly opposite Jinja, just downstream from where the river leaves Lake Victoria. On a map the river divides the two towns clearly, with bridges and dams stitching them together. Njeru's own streets spread westward from the riverbank along the main road toward Kampala, surrounded by farmland and plantations.

The river here is harnessed for power. The Nalubaale and Kiira hydroelectric stations stand at the former Owen Falls site, and the New Jinja Bridge, a cable-stayed crossing opened in 2018, carries traffic across the Nile. These structures make the stretch of water between Njeru and Jinja one of the most important crossings in the country.

A Njeru map poster frames the town at a remarkable point on the Nile's long journey north. The broad river, the thin lines of the bridges and the growing street network on the western bank make a composition with a strong central axis.

Victoria Nile

The river flows north past the town just after leaving Lake Victoria, forming a broad band that divides Njeru from Jinja on the map.

02

Dams and bridges

Hydroelectric dams and the New Jinja Bridge cross the river here, drawing clean lines across the water between the two towns.

03

Kampala road

The main highway west to Kampala runs through Njeru, and much of the town's development follows its route away from the river.
