Nokianvirta rapids
The short, powerful river running through the centre gave the town its industry and its name, and it remains the clearest line on the map.

Ang mapa
Nokia Map Poster & Print
Nokia lies just west of Tampere in the Pirkanmaa region, on the Nokianvirta, the river that carries water from Lake Pyhäjärvi toward Lake Kulovesi. The town grew around the rapids, and the map still reflects that: the river forms a strong line through the centre, with homes, industrial sites and roads arranged along its banks and the lakeshores opening out on either side.
The town is best known as the namesake of a global company. In the 1860s the engineer Fredrik Idestam set up a wood-pulp mill on the rapids here, and the business that grew from it took the town's name before eventually becoming a telecommunications company known worldwide. Nokian Tyres, whose history is also tied to the town, is still based here.
A Nokia map poster brings together water, forest and a compact centre. Lakes fill large portions of the frame, their shorelines broken by bays and small islands, while the streets gather tightly around the river crossing. In black and white, the contrast between open water and the fine web of roads is especially strong, giving the print the spacious feel typical of Finnish lakeland.

Lake Pyhäjärvi
The long lake stretches toward Tampere, its irregular shoreline and scattered islands forming a large, calm surface along one side of the town.
Industrial riverside
Mill buildings and factory sites cluster near the rapids, their large rectangular footprints standing apart from the smaller plots of the surrounding residential streets.

Bakit Nokia
Isang mapang may kahulugan
For those who live here, Nokia is a lakeside town first and a famous name second. For others, a map of the place that gave its name to a household brand makes a thoughtful conversation piece, especially for someone who worked in technology or grew up around Tampere.
You can rewrite the title and subtitle, keep or adjust the coordinates, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Download high-resolution files in six print sizes, or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
