Ang mapa
Pianjiao Map Poster & Print
Pianjiao lies in northwestern Yunnan, in the high, mountainous country west of the Yangtze's great bends and north of the Dali region. The terrain here is folded into long ridges and narrow valleys, and settlements tend to follow the valley floors, where there is level ground for fields and roads.
On the map, the settlement appears as a modest cluster of streets linked to its surroundings by roads that follow the shape of the land. Many of these roads curve along the contours or climb in switchbacks, and small streams run down the valleys. The mountains leave large parts of the surrounding area empty of settlement.
A Pianjiao map poster turns this setting into a composition of bends and curves. The roads trace the landscape more than any grid, and the streets gather where the valley allows. The result is a quiet, organic print that reflects the geography of the Yunnan plateau.

Contour-following roads
Roads leading out of the settlement curve along hillsides and climb in bends. On paper their lines are more fluid than a planned street network.
Mountain streams
Small watercourses run down the valleys. They add fine, branching lines that follow the same folds of terrain as the roads.
