Ang mapa
Puerto Asís Map Poster & Print
Puerto Asís lies on the left bank of the Putumayo River in southern Colombia, where the foothills of the Andes give way to the Amazon lowlands. The town's streets form a mostly regular grid set back from the riverbank. Beyond it, the river continues in wide meanders through forest and farmland.
As its name suggests, the town grew up as a port, and river traffic on the Putumayo has long connected it to settlements downstream. Further along its course, the river forms part of Colombia's border with Ecuador and Peru. The region has also been shaped by oil and cattle ranching.
A Puerto Asís map poster is built around the river. The Putumayo sweeps across the page in broad curves with sandbanks and side channels, and the town's grid sits beside it. Roads and smaller tributaries lead away into the lowland in thinner lines.

Riverside grid
The town is laid out in regular blocks near the water. That grid contrasts clearly with the loose, natural forms of the river.
Lowland tributaries
Smaller streams wind toward the Putumayo through the surrounding land. They add fine, irregular detail to the edges of the composition.
