Open-pit workings
Large coal quarries form broad, angular shapes with stepped edges, the most distinctive and unusual feature on the map around the town.

Ang mapa
Raychikhinsk Map Poster & Print
Raychikhinsk is a town in Amur Oblast in the Russian Far East, founded in the 1930s around deposits of brown coal. Its map is shaped by that industry. A compact Soviet-era grid of streets and apartment blocks sits next to wide open-pit workings that have carved the land into terraces and spoil heaps.
The town lies on the Zeya–Bureya plain, a flat agricultural region not far from the Amur river and the Chinese border. Railway lines connect it to the Trans-Siberian network, and settlements that grew up with the mines surround it at a short distance.
A Raychikhinsk map poster is unusual and graphic. The regular urban blocks contrast sharply with the angular, irregular scars of the quarries, and straight rail spurs cut across the open steppe. It is an honest portrait of an industrial town and has a strong, almost abstract visual power.

Soviet grid
The residential centre follows a planned layout of straight streets and large blocks, clearly separated from the industrial zones around it.
Rail spurs
Railway lines run out to the mines and toward the main line, forming long, straight strokes across the flat Amur plain.
