Ang mapa
Rheinfelden Map Poster & Print
Rheinfelden (Baden) lies on the north bank of the Rhine in Baden-Württemberg, directly opposite the Swiss town of Rheinfelden in Aargau. The river forms the border, and on the map it runs as a broad band between the two towns, connected by bridges that make them feel like one place split in two.
The German town grew in the late nineteenth century with the construction of a hydroelectric power station on the Rhine, one of the first large river power plants in Europe. The energy it produced drew industry, and the town took shape around it on the terraces above the river.
A Rheinfelden map poster makes the Rhine the centrepiece. The wide river, the bridges across it, the planned streets of the German side and the older Swiss town opposite create a composition about borders, water and connection.

Cross-river bridges
Bridges link the German and Swiss Rheinfelden, turning a national border into a short walk between two neighbouring centres.
Power station site
The hydroelectric works that gave rise to the modern town sit on the river, their structures visible as distinct shapes along the bank.
