Dense old quarter
The historic centre is a close web of narrow, winding lanes that grew without a plan, forming the darkest and most detailed part of the map.

Ang mapa
Sahaswān Map Poster & Print
Sahaswān is a town in Budaun district in western Uttar Pradesh, on the broad, flat plain of the upper Ganges. The river runs to the southwest of the town, and the land around it is intensively farmed. From above, Sahaswan is a compact settlement with a dense old centre of narrow, irregular lanes and roads leading out to the villages across the plain.
The town has an important place in Indian music. It gave its name to the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, a school of Hindustani classical singing, and several of the tradition's well-known vocalists came from Sahaswan families. For a small town it has an unusually long reach in the country's musical history.
A Sahaswān map poster shows the typical shape of a north Indian qasba: a tight, organic core, a few main roads and fields stretching out on all sides. The pattern is subtle but distinctive, and in monochrome the density of the old lanes stands clearly against the open plain.

Roads across the plain
Main roads lead out from the town in several directions, connecting Sahaswan to Budaun and to the villages around it.
Toward the Ganges
The flat agricultural land southwest of the town runs toward the Ganges and its floodplain, giving the map wide, open margins.
