Santrampur is a town in the Mahisagar district of eastern Gujarat, close to the borders with Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The landscape here is more varied than on Gujarat's plains, with low hills, seasonal streams and patches of scrub and forest around the farmland. It was once the capital of the princely state of Sant, a small Rajput state that joined the Indian Union after 1947.
