Ibo River corridor
The river runs north to south through the city and pulls roads and settlements along its banks. It is the backbone of the map, and everything else branches off it.

Ang mapa
Shisō Map Poster & Print
Shisō covers a large, mostly mountainous part of western Hyōgo. On a map it is dominated by forest and ridgelines. The streets and buildings are pushed into the valleys, and most of all into the corridor of the Ibo River, which runs south through the city toward the Harima plain and the Inland Sea.
The city in its current form was created by the merger of several towns and villages in the 2000s. You can read that on the map: there is no single dense core but a chain of small centres, each tied to the river or a tributary valley. The largest of them, the old town of Yamasaki, sits where the valley widens, and its streets are packed onto the flat ground.
A Shisō map poster is a study in contrast. Thin lines of road and river twist through wide empty areas of mountain, and each cluster of streets looks deliberate against so much open ground. It suits people who like maps where the landscape matters as much as the town, and where the gaps are part of the design.

Mountain interior
Much of the area is forested highland, with few roads. On the poster this becomes calm open space that sets off the valley towns.
Yamasaki centre
The main town area is on a wider stretch of valley floor. Here the street pattern tightens into a small grid, the densest spot in an otherwise sparse map.

Bakit Shisō
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Shisō appeals to people who connect it with a quieter, rural Japan: a family home, a mountain drive or a season spent in Harima. The map keeps the river and valleys in their true proportions, so it reads as a place, not a diagram.
Add your own title, a subtitle and the coordinates line, and choose one of five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The digital version is $9 and includes files for six print sizes. Printed posters ship from partners in more than 30 countries.
