Ang mapa
Sokal Map Poster & Print
Sokal is in the north of Lviv Oblast, on the Western Bug River, not far from the border with Poland. On a map, the river is the defining feature. It winds through a wide, flat floodplain, with loops and old channels on both sides. The town sits along it, and much of the layout follows the curve of the valley.
The town has a long history as a trading and religious centre in the borderlands between Ukraine and Poland. Its historic monastery complex by the river is one of its best-known buildings. The surrounding landscape is open farmland, crossed by roads leading to Lviv, Chervonohrad and the border crossings to the west.
A Sokal map poster sets the compact street pattern of the town against the soft, meandering line of the Bug and the green floodplain beside it. Bridges and river crossings add a few strong lines across the water. The result is a quiet composition shaped by a river that, for much of its length, also marks a national border.

Floodplain meadows
Low, open ground along the river breaks up the built-up area and leaves a generous band of space on the map.
Roads to the region
Main roads leave the town towards Lviv, Chervonohrad and the border, forming clear lines across the surrounding farmland.
