The Samara River
The river loops past the town with meanders and cut-off channels, adding soft, irregular curves against the straight streets on the bank above.

Ang mapa
Sorochinsk Map Poster & Print
Sorochinsk is a town in the west of Orenburg Oblast in southern Russia, on the Samara River. It lies on open steppe, and the map shows a regular grid of streets on the higher bank, bordered by the winding river, its oxbows and a strip of floodplain woodland and meadow.
The town began as a fortress built in the 1730s as part of the defensive line Russia established along its southeastern frontier. It later became a trading settlement and a centre for the surrounding farming district, and a railway now runs through it. The wide, straight streets reflect the planning typical of towns in this region.
A Sorochinsk map poster is defined by the contrast between the ordered town and the free-flowing river. The streets run in clean lines, while the Samara bends, divides and leaves old channels in the floodplain. Beyond, the open steppe keeps the composition calm and uncluttered.

Regular town grid
Long, parallel streets and rectangular blocks give the centre a clear and orderly structure, typical of planned towns on the Russian steppe.
Railway line
The railway runs through the town in a long, straight line, connecting it to the wider region and forming a firm edge on the map.
