Batang Lupar
The wide river curves past the town and fills much of the sheet. Its sheer width makes it the defining shape of the poster, especially in the Blueprint or Noir style.

Ang mapa
Sri Aman Map Poster & Print
Sri Aman stands on the Batang Lupar, one of Sarawak's major rivers, some distance inland from the South China Sea. The river is wide here and dominates the map, sweeping past the compact town centre in a smooth, broad curve that the poster renders as a single bold shape. The streets gather close to the water, as they always have.
The Batang Lupar is famous for its tidal bore, known locally as the benak, a wave that rolls upriver on certain tides and draws crowds to the waterfront. The town centre sits close to the river, with shophouse streets near the bank and roads running inland to newer neighbourhoods, schools and the highway toward Kuching.
The town was formerly called Simanggang. It was renamed Sri Aman, meaning peace, after an agreement in the 1970s that ended a local communist insurgency. Fort Alice, built in the 1860s during the Brooke era, stands above the river. A Sri Aman map poster keeps the river at its centre, where the town has always faced.

Tidal bore waterfront
People gather on the riverbank near the centre to watch the benak arrive. On the map it is the edge where the dense town streets meet open water.
Fort Alice
A timber fort from the Brooke era stands above the river near the town centre. It is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the area and a local landmark.

Bakit Sri Aman
Isang mapang may kahulugan
Sri Aman holds a particular place in Sarawak's story, and many Iban and other families trace their roots to the Batang Lupar. A map of the town and its river keeps that connection visible in a home far away.
Personalise the title, perhaps with Simanggang or Sri Aman, and add a date or a family name. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download six print-ready sizes for $9, or order a matte print, framed if you prefer.
