Ang mapa
Tela Map Poster & Print
Tela lies on the Caribbean coast of Honduras, in the department of Atlántida, on a long, gently curving bay. The town is laid out in a grid behind the beach, with the Tela River reaching the sea in the middle of town and dividing the older quarter from the newer one. On the map, the shoreline is the strongest line, a smooth arc of sand edging the blocks.
In the twentieth century Tela was a base of the banana industry, and the United Fruit Company founded the Lancetilla Botanical Garden just inland, now one of the largest tropical botanical gardens in the Americas. West of town, Jeannette Kawas National Park covers the Punta Sal peninsula, with lagoons and forest, while Garifuna communities such as Tornabé and Miami line the coast.
A Tela map poster balances land and sea. The grid of blocks sits against the curve of the bay, the river mouth breaks the shoreline, and lagoons and wetlands spread along the coast to either side. Frame it wider and the long peninsula of Punta Sal enters the composition, a finger of land reaching out into the Caribbean.

Tela River mouth
The river cuts through the centre on its way to the sea, splitting the older and newer parts of town and adding a small inlet to the shoreline.
Coastal lagoons
West of town, lagoons and wetlands spread behind the beach toward Punta Sal, a soft, irregular pattern of water that contrasts with the town grid.
