Basin floor
Level farmland spreads across the valley around the town. Small fields and villages give it a fine, even texture on the map.

Ang mapa
Yongjian Map Poster & Print
Yongjian is in the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture of western Yunnan, south of the Erhai lake region. From above, it occupies part of a flat, cultivated basin enclosed by mountains. The town centre is a cluster of streets and courtyard buildings. Around it, villages and small fields spread across the valley floor before the land rises steeply on all sides.
This basin-and-mountain pattern is typical of the Yunnan plateau. Towns and farmland occupy the level ground, and the slopes stay forested or terraced. Roads follow the valley and climb out through passes towards neighbouring towns and the city of Dali. Irrigation channels and small streams cross the fields and give the flat land a fine texture.
A Yongjian map poster shows a town defined by its setting: a dense built-up core, a flat patchwork of fields and villages, and the change from level ground to slopes at the edges. It is a quiet, balanced composition for anyone with roots in this corner of Yunnan.

Mountain rim
Steep slopes rise on all sides of the basin. They form a natural frame that marks the limit of cultivated, settled land.
Valley roads
Roads cross the basin and climb out through the surrounding hills. They connect the town with neighbouring settlements and the wider Dali region.

Isang mapang may kahulugan
For people from Yongjian, the shape of the basin and the town at its centre is a familiar sight. A map of it is a meaningful keepsake, especially for anyone who now lives far from Yunnan.
