Al Mash‘ilīyah is part of the urban area of Najran in southwestern Saudi Arabia, close to the Yemeni border. Najran occupies a long valley shaped by a wadi. Farmland, palm groves and settlements have long gathered along the fertile valley floor, while rocky mountains rise on either side.
From above, the district shows a mix of newer planned streets and older, more irregular patterns tied to agriculture. Walled farms and groves appear as enclosed blocks among the houses, and wide roads run along the length of the valley.
