Banabuiú Map Poster & Print
Banabuiú is a municipality in the Sertão Central of Ceará and takes its name from the river that crosses this dry interior. The town itself is small, a handful of streets gathered around a central square and the main road. The landscape around it is anything but plain on a map, though. The Banabuiú River and its tributaries draw fine seasonal lines through the caatinga scrub.
The defining feature is the Arrojado Lisboa reservoir, usually called the Banabuiú dam, one of the largest bodies of water in Ceará. It was built to store the irregular rains of the semi-arid northeast. It spreads across the valley in long arms and inlets that follow the flooded beds of old streams, and from above it looks almost like a drawing of a tree.
A Banabuiú map poster balances two very different shapes: the tight cluster of town streets and the sprawling, irregular form of the reservoir. In plain black and white the water becomes a strong graphic mass, and the tracks and rural roads around it add a delicate texture that rewards a closer look.

Seasonal river lines
Streams feeding the Banabuiú River run dry for much of the year, but their courses still appear as thin winding lines across the surrounding countryside.
Compact town centre
The urban area is small and concentrated. Its close group of streets and blocks reads clearly against the open land, even at larger print sizes.
