Banī ‘Ubayd Map Poster & Print
Banī ‘Ubayd lies in Minya governorate in Middle Egypt, within the narrow, fertile strip of the Nile valley. On the map, the town is a dense cluster of streets surrounded on all sides by cultivated fields, crossed by canals and roads that run roughly parallel to the river. The contrast between the compact settlement and the geometric farmland is its defining feature.
The pattern is typical of the Nile valley, where towns and villages sit close together on the farmed floodplain and every piece of flat land is put to use. Irrigation canals draw long lines through the fields, and the edge of the desert is never far away. Beyond these general features, the town is known mostly to those who live in the region.
A Banī ‘Ubayd map poster captures this landscape of fields, water channels and tightly built streets in clean black and white. The irregular grain of the town contrasts with the long, straight lines of canals and field boundaries, giving the composition a strong structure, one that feels specific to the Nile valley and personal to people from the town.
