Carlsbad Map Poster & Print
Carlsbad lies on the coast of north San Diego County. Its shape on a map is set by water. Three coastal lagoons, Buena Vista, Agua Hedionda and Batiquitos, cut inland from the Pacific and divide the city into clear sections. Interstate 5 and the coastal railway run north to south, parallel to the beach, and the older village sits in a small grid between them and the sea.
East of the freeway, the city is more suburban. Curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs, golf courses and business parks spread over the low hills around McClellan-Palomar Airport. Carlsbad is known for its springtime Flower Fields of ranunculus, for Legoland California and as a centre of the golf equipment industry. Its name comes from the Bohemian spa town of Karlsbad, after mineral water was found here.
A Carlsbad map poster shows the contrast between the tidy village blocks by the ocean and the looping streets inland, with the three lagoons as the strongest shapes on the sheet. The long, straight coastline gives the composition a firm western edge.

Carlsbad Village
The old centre forms a compact grid between the coastal rail line and the beach, with short blocks leading down to the ocean.
Inland curves
East of Interstate 5, winding residential streets, cul-de-sacs and golf fairways cover the hills and give the map a softer, looser texture.
